Rahul Gandhi highlighted the plight of DTC workers which he said he came to know about through interacting with them and said “the demands are clear – equal work, equal pay, total justice.”
On Mondays, Raul Gandhi He posted a long message on X, saying, “A few days ago, after having a pleasant experience of travelling by bus in Delhi, I interacted with DTC employees and got to know about their daily routine and problems. With no social security, no stable income and no permanent job, contract work has reduced a job of great responsibility to a state of obligation. While drivers and conductors are forced to live in the darkness of uncertainty, home guards who are continuously deployed for the safety of passengers have not received any salary for the last 6 months.”
“Concerned by this negligence, DTC workers, like government employees across the country, live in constant fear of privatisation. They are the ones who rule India, who facilitate the travel of millions of people every day, but all they have gotten in return for their dedication is injustice.”
“The demands are clear: equal work, equal pay, total justice. With sadness and regret, they ask the government: “If we are permanent citizens, why are our jobs temporary?” he adds.
Gandhi takes a bus tour of Delhi
Last week Gandhi embarked on a journey in the DTC Bus and interacted with drivers, conductors and marshals near Sarojini Nagar Bus Stand here to discuss their issues.
