Rain is becoming a problem for circular railway passengers

Kolkata. This happened twice in the last two weeks when train services were disrupted due to rain on the tracks of the Circular Railway. Officials said that so much water had accumulated on the tracks that there was a danger of trains derailing. Recently, Eastern Railway issued a statement saying that the Circular Railway line was submerged due to rain. At times, water accumulates up to one and a half metres on the track, due to which train services are disrupted time and again. It is alleged that due to the collapse of the drainage system, water remains accumulated on the tracks for several days. Many large pumps have been installed at Kolkata station to remove the water. Also, two additional pumps have been kept in reserve for any emergency. Officials say that when the pump is operated, water comes out for some time. But the water accumulated around the station enters the station area. The worst situation is around bridge number 16/A, situated near Vidyanagar. Water is accumulating on the common lines one and two located here. The Railways claims that the situation here is getting worse due to the poor drainage system. Apart from this, when the tide in the Hooghly River rises, water from the Keshtopur canal accumulates on the railway track. This picture is of bridge number 20 in the Dakshindari area. This is the problem in the Malighat area.
