Jaipur: The spell of heavy rains that lasted for about one and a half months is slowing down. The weather in Rajasthan is gradually clearing up. According to the latest update from the Meteorological Department, the weather in the state is likely to remain clear for the next few days. However, there are indications that the monsoon will be active again on September 23. According to the weather bulletin issued by the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, conditions are becoming favourable for the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from parts of western Rajasthan and Kutch from September 23. In such a situation, there is a possibility of light rains in some parts of western Rajasthan.

Light rains likely in a dozen districts

According to the report released by Jaipur Meteorological Centre, monsoon is now passing over Bikaner. The cyclonic circulation over south-east Rajasthan and adjoining areas is now over north-east Rajasthan. In such a situation, there is a possibility of reduced rainfall activities in the state and light rain along with thundershowers at some places in eastern Rajasthan. The weather is likely to remain mainly dry over most parts of western Rajasthan from September 21 onwards. There is a possibility of light rain only at isolated places.

Forecast for the next two weeks.

The department has also issued a forecast for the next two weeks. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder in some parts of Bharatpur, Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Bikaner and Kota divisions in the next 24 hours. Following this, there is a possibility of reduced rainfall activities in the state from Saturday and light rain along with thunder is likely to be recorded at some places in eastern Rajasthan. The rainfall activities are likely to increase in the eastern parts of the state during the second week. There is a possibility of above normal rainfall at some places in eastern Rajasthan.

58 percent more rain in the state so far

If we look at the rainfall figures since the onset of monsoon in Rajasthan till September 19, the state has so far recorded 58 per cent more rainfall than the average. The average rainfall in the state is 423.5 mm while it received 671.1 mm of rainfall this time. More rainfall was recorded in western Rajasthan than eastern Rajasthan. Western Rajasthan received 75 per cent more rainfall than the average and eastern Rajasthan received 49 per cent more rainfall. Western Rajasthan received 481.8 mm of rainfall instead of the average rainfall of 275.7 mm while eastern Rajasthan received 908.8 mm of rainfall instead of the average rainfall of 609.0 mm.
