Vinesh’s celebrated comeback:
From the moment Vinesh landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on August 17.She was greeted by hundreds of her supporters.
Not only was she congratulated by her supporters and the ‘khap’ panchayats of several villages, but she also took nearly 13 hours on Saturday to cover a distance of 135 km from Delhi to Balali.
Vinesh’s disqualification:
Ahead of her gold medal match with American Sarah Hildebrandt at the Paris Olympics, Vinesh was disqualified from the 50kg freestyle category as she was just 100 grams heavier than the permissible limit.
Following this, She appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and was also seeking a silver medal, but the CAS rejected it on August 14.
Before that, upset by the disqualification, she announced her retirement on August 8.
However, on August 18, after returning to Balali, he said: She will think about whether she wants to continue fighting.but for now he can neither confirm nor deny it.
Reacting to the suspense over his retirement, he said for the first time, as quoted PTI“This incident is a deep wound that will take time to heal. However, the love I have received from my fellow countrymen and people will help me heal. I will think about whether I want to continue fighting, but for now I cannot say what I will do. The courage I have received from the people will guide me in the right direction.”
