Tata Nexon CNG will be launched on September 2. It was first showcased as a concept at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2024. According to Ratan Tata, the Tata Nexon CNG will also feature an automatic gearbox, meaning it will have two gearboxes. The Nexon is expected to be one of the most powerful CNG vehicles in the segment and will be India’s first turbo-CNG vehicle.
Tata Nexon CNG: Interior and engine
The interior and exterior of the Nexon CNG will be similar to the standard SUV. However, it is expected to get some CNG-related mechanical upgrades to the suspension as well as some iCNG badging to differentiate it. The Nexon CNG will come with a 1.2-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder engine and will be Tata’s third product to offer a CNG-AMT combination after the Tigor and Tiago.

Tata Nexon CNG What’s the price?
Nexon CNG is expected to be launched for around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom price). The CNG vehicle will be offered with a dual 60-litre CNG tank and 230 litres of usable boot space. Nexon CNG has a single ECU, which smoothly switches from CNG to petrol mode without any delay and the vehicle can start directly in CNG mode.
Tata Nexon CNG: Twin-cylinder CNG tank
According to Tata Motors, the Nexon will be equipped with NGV1 type nozzles to speed up the fueling process. Nexon will be the only SUV in its segment to offer different powertrain options like CNG, pure petrol, diesel and electric vehicles. Tata Motors was the first company to introduce a two-cylinder CNG tank with a capacity of 60 litres, a feature that is now available on Hyundai. Equipped with all these features, Nexon CNG will compete with the CNG edition of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
