Central government launches She-Box portal

The central government has taken a major initiative with regard to women’s safety. Now, the She-Box portal has been launched to further increase women’s safety at the workplace. This centralized platform has been designed to streamline the registration and tracking of complaints related to sexual harassment at the workplace. Acting as a centralized repository, this portal will store information about Internal Committees (ICs) and Local Committees (LCs) constituted in both the government and private sectors. It is a one-stop platform for women to lodge complaints, monitor their status and ensure timely action by the relevant authorities. The portal also includes a collection of resources related to the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, including brochures, training modules and advisory documents. These resources are available in both Hindi and English and can be accessed or downloaded for free. The portal also includes videos aimed at increasing awareness about the Act and its provisions.

Tejinder Singh becomes the new Deputy Chief of Air Force

Air Marshal Tejinder Singh took charge as the new Vice Chief of the Air Force on September 1. It may be noted that in the Indian Air Force, the Deputy Chief of the Air Force is in charge of modernisation and capital acquisition of the force. Air Marshal Tejinder Singh was the Senior Air Staff Officer of the all-important Eastern Air Command since May 2023.

Ashutosh Dixit became the head of Air Command Central

Veteran fighter pilot Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit has taken charge as the new chief of the Indian Air Force’s Central Air Command based in Prayagraj from September 1. He replaced Air Marshal RGK Kapoor, who retired on August 31.

Minister of Agriculture launches AgriSure Fund

The AgriSURE scheme was launched by the Minister for Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chauhan in New Delhi. AgriSure aims to foster innovation and growth in the rural agri-startup ecosystem. It is a Rs 750 crore co-ed fund, out of which the Government of India’s contribution is Rs 250 crore in SEBI-registered Category II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF), NABARD’s contribution is Rs 250 crore and Rs 250 crore is from banks. Funds are being raised from insurance companies and private investors.

Over 52 crore trees planted under ‘A tree in the name of mother’ campaign

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupendra Yadav said through a post that under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, a great achievement has been made in tree plantation across the country. Under this campaign, more than 52 crore trees have been planted across the country. The ‘A Tree in the Name of Mother’ campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, 2024.

Himanshi Tokas won the silver medal at the Asian Cadet and Junior Judo Championships

Divyanshi Bhowmik won the bronze medal in the U-19 women’s singles event

In table tennis, Divyanshi Bhowmik won the bronze medal in the U-19 girls’ singles event at the World Table Tennis Youth Contenders Varazdin 2024 Arena Varazdin in Croatia. Divyanshi, 13, is an athlete from Khelo India.

The World Test Championship final will be held in 2025, Lord’s will be the host

The date and venue for the final match of the ICC World Test Championship have been announced. ICC said that the 2025 final will be played at Lord’s Cricket Ground from June 11-15, 2025. Indian shooter Anuya Prasad won the gold medal in the women’s air pistol event at the 2nd World Shooting Championships for the Deaf in Hannover, Germany. She defeated Sofia Olenich of Ukraine by zero point one point. At the same time, 18-year-old Mohammad Murtuza Vania also won a silver medal in the mixed team event of 10m air rifle along with Natasha Joshi. On the second day of the championship, Indian shooters won a total of 5 medals including 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze. Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki to receive 2024 Ramon Magsaysay Award

Famous Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki has been selected as the winner of the 2024 Ramon Magsaysay Award. Hayao is known for directing films such as ‘Spirited Away’. The Ramon Magsaysay Award is called the Nobel Prize of Asia. According to the Japan Times, Hayao Miyazaki has directed films such as ‘My Neighbor Totoro’, ‘Princess Mononoke’, ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’, ‘Ponyo’, and ‘The Boy and the Heron’, which were also appreciated by critics.
