Actor Mithun Chakraborty to receive Dadasaheb Phalke Award

It was announced that famous actor Mithun Chakraborty will receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest award in Indian cinema, at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnav has provided this information through a tweet. Mithun Chakraborty, born Gaurang Chakraborty on June 16, 1950 in Calcutta, is the only actor in Indian cinema to receive the National Film Award for Best Actor for his first film. Apart from this, Mithun received national film awards for his performance in the film Tahader Katha and the film Swami Vivekananda. The Central Government has also honored him with the Padma Bhushan Award this year. President Draupadi Murmu will present the Dadasaheb Phalke Award to Mithun on October 8 in New Delhi during the 70th National Film Awards due in 2022.
This award began in 1969: This award, named after Dadasaheb Phalke, considered the father of Indian cinema, was established by the Central Government in the year 1969. Dadasaheb Phalke’s full name was Dhundiraj Govind Phalke. Under this award, a ‘Golden Lotus’, cash of Rs 15 lakh, a certificate, a silk plaque and a shawl are awarded. The award is presented by the President of India in the presence of senior officials including the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, presidents of the jury, representatives of the Film Federation of India and the Confederation of All Cinema Employees of India. The first Dadasaheb Phalke award was received by Devika Rani in the year 1969.

Justice Manmohan becomes Chief Justice of Delhi High Court

Justice Manmohan has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court. Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena administered oath to the judge in a ceremony at Raj Nivas, the LG secretariat. Manmohan was the Acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court since November 2023. He has served as the Acting Chief Justice for approximately 11 months.

Air Marshal AP Singh becomes Air Force Chief

Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh took charge as the new chief of the Indian Air Force on September 30. He has replaced VR Choudhary. Singh has more than 5,000 hours of flying experience and is a skilled fighter jet pilot. Air Chief Marshal Singh was serving as Deputy Chief of Air Force in his previous assignment.

Suresh Kumar Kait became the 28th Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Justice Suresh Kumar Kait has been appointed as the 28th Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel administered oath to him. His term will be for six months. Kait has been a senior judge of the Delhi High Court. The post of Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court was vacant since May 24. After the retirement of Justice Ravi Malimath, Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva were appointed as the acting Chief Justice. On September 17, the collegium headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud had recommended appointing Suresh Kumar Kait as Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court and it was approved by the President.

The half marathon will be organized in Delhi on October 20

The 19th edition of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon will be organized on October 20 in the capital Delhi. What is special is that Olympic 10,000 meters gold medalist Joshua Cheptegei will participate in the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2024. Uganda’s star runner Cheptegei had retired from athletics events after winning at the Paris Olympics and he had made it clear that he would now participate in the marathon.

Gulveer Singh won gold at the World Athletics Continental Tour

Indian athlete Gulveer Singh won the gold medal in the men’s 5,000 meters race at the World Athletics Continental Tour in Japan. He created a new national record with a time of 13 minutes and 11.82 seconds. He broke his own previous record of 13 minutes and 18.92 seconds, which he had set earlier this year. Before him, this record was in the name of his compatriot Avinash Sable.

B Vanlalvanna has been appointed as India’s next ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia. The Indian Foreign Service officer of the year 1998 is currently the Joint Secretary in the Ministry. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ‘B. Vanlalvanna (IFS: 1998), currently Joint Secretary in the Ministry, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Cambodia. Prior to this appointment, Devyani Uttam Khobragade was serving as India’s ambassador to Cambodia.
