Reliance Annual General Meeting 2024:Akash Ambani, Chairman, Jio India, took the stage at the 47th Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries Limited to reveal details of Jio’s latest advancements in the digital and home entertainment space. His address highlighted the next evolution of Jio Home offerings, driven by Reliance’s commitment to innovation with the transformative potential of AI and connected technologies.

He started by introducing the homegrown operating system, Jio TvOS, for the Jio set-top box, which is designed to make the experience faster, smoother and more personalized. “Jio TvOS is made for your big TV screen, giving you a faster, smoother and more personalized experience,” he said, adding that it supports Ultra HD 4K video, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. This new system that integrates everything in one place, from live TV and OTT apps to on-demand content, has made entertainment much easier for millions of subscribers.

The voice assistant “Hello Jio,” now powered by generative AI, is the foundation of Jio’s innovation for the home. Akash explained how the assistant can find content across many platforms, control the Jio set-top box, and even interact with IoT devices to make homes smarter and more connected. Another major introduction was the JioHome app, which acts as a control center for all Jio smart devices and gives users a single platform to manage their environment.

In a major extension, Akash introduced JioPhonecall AI, a service that stores phone calls on Jio Cloud and transcribes them, making AI as accessible as a phone call. “JioPhonecall AI can store any call on Jio Cloud and automatically transcribe it, which means automatically converting speech to text,” he explained. Indeed, this will be the innovation that will make communication more inclusive, especially for the hearing impaired.

Mukesh Ambani is the Chairman of RIL. The former spoke about Reliance’s larger vision. He outlined the corporation’s strategic transformation into a deep tech innovator with AI at the forefront. “Jio stands out today as a true deep tech innovator,” he highlighted while speaking about the company’s investments in AI, 5G and digital infrastructure. This technology-driven transformation would catapult Reliance into the league of the world’s top 30 and create tremendous value for its shareholders, the billionaire underlined.
