New Delhi: The post-mortem report of Renukaswamy, a fan of Kannada actor Darshan who was tortured and then mercilessly murdered after he allegedly sent obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda, a close friend of Darshan, revealed that he suffered 39 injuries, including a broken chest bone and damage to his testicles, leading to his death.

The prosecution shared the autopsy report with the city’s 56th Additional Civil and Sessions Court, which was hearing bail petitions of four suspects. The court rejected all four petitions.

According to the autopsy report, Renukaswamy also had a deep wound on his head and a torn ear. He also suffered electric shocks, the report said.

“It is clear from the photographs that the deceased had injuries on almost all parts of the body. Some of the injuries appear to be severe. These facts show that the deceased had been tortured in an unimaginable manner… According to the FSL report, blood and DNA of the deceased were reportedly found on the clothes and shoe of the complainant,” the court’s bail order reads.

“If we look at the allegations levelled against Pavithra Gowda, it can be seen that she is the main cause of the entire incident. There are allegations that she was involved in the conspiracy to kidnap and murder. There is strong evidence that she was an accomplice to the alleged offence. The offence is so heinous and horrendous that that in itself is sufficient ground to reject the bail application,” the judge opined.

Last week, a photograph showing a shirtless Renukaswamy begging for mercy and crying was widely shared on social media. The picture is believed to have been taken moments before Darshan and his associates killed him mercilessly. The photographs, mentioned in the chargesheet, were recovered from the mobile phone of one of the accused. These pictures were allegedly taken at the crime scene (the parking shed) after Renukaswamy’s death and sent to other prime accused in the case, police sources said.

“After seeing the photograph that has gone viral, we are confused. We don’t know what to say or how to react. We can now imagine how much he must have suffered, screamed and begged. He was tortured beyond endurance,” Renukaswamy’s father Shivanagoudru was quoted as saying by PTI.

Bengaluru Police have filed a chargesheet against 17 accused in the murder case.

An “airtight” chargesheet, comprising 231 witness statements and technical and electronic evidence, was prepared after investigating the case from all aspects, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda told reporters after the 3,991-page chargesheet (comprising seven volumes and 10 files) was submitted to the 24th Additional Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.
