Rickshaw driver tried to rape a girl, police caught him after an encounter

UP News: The Phase 2 police station in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, has caught a driver who tried to rape a girl in a rickshaw. The Uttar Pradesh police arrested the accused during an encounter on Saturday morning. We would like to tell you that after spotting the policemen, the accused fled and also opened fire at the policemen who were chasing him. Later, the police retaliated by firing a bullet which hit him in the leg. In this case, the police said that the auto rickshaw and the illegal weapons used in the incident have been recovered from the accused. Seven cases have already been registered against him under various heads, including rape and molestation.

Under the pretext of running out of CNG, they took her to a deserted area and began to commit indecent acts against her.

Describing this incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Second Zone) Shakti Mohan Awasthi said that on August 21, a person lodged an FIR at Police Station Phase-2. In this FIR, it was reported that on August 16, her sister was returning from Surajpur to her home in Bhatta Colony, Bhangel in an auto-rickshaw. The auto-rickshaw driver then told her sister near Sector 88 that the CNG in the auto had run out. The complaint states that the auto-rickshaw driver took her sister to a deserted place on the pretext of filling CNG. There he started committing obscene acts with her in the auto-rickshaw and tried to rape her. Meanwhile, hearing the screams of the girl, people passing by gathered there and seeing the people coming, the auto-rickshaw driver pushed the girl out of the auto-rickshaw and fled from the spot.

Man accused of being shot in the leg in police retaliation

Giving information about this incident, the Deputy Commissioner of Police said that taking this matter seriously, the police formed a special team and started the search for the rickshaw driver. He further said that as per the information received on Saturday morning, the police tried to stop a rickshaw and when the driver did not stop, the police chased him. Later, the driver of the accused vehicle opened fire on the police team itself. He said that while retaliating, the policemen also fired a bullet which hit the leg of the accused. The police officer said that the accused has been identified as Kuldeep alias Sonu, 26, and is a resident of Kannauj.
