Bhubaneswar. Union Steel Secretary Sandeep Poundrick met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan on Thursday evening. During this, he discussed the development of the steel industry in Odisha. Senior officials of SAIL, NMDC and other PSUs under the Steel Department participated during the discussion. In the meeting, the Union Steel Secretary informed that the Rourkela steel plant will be expanded and its production capacity will be increased from 4.5 million tonnes to nine million tonnes. For this, he sought cooperation from the state government. The Chief Minister assured that the state government will provide full support for this. On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that various PSUs under the Union Steel Ministry such as SAIL, OMDC, etc. need to undertake more development work in Odisha with the help of its Corporate Social Responsibility Fund. Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Administrative Secretary to the Chief Minister Nikunj Bihari Dhal, Secretary of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department Devranjan Kumar Singh and Secretary of the Steel and Mining Department Surendra Kumar were present at the meeting.

Union Steel Secretary arrives on two-day visit to Rourkela

Sandeep Poundrick, Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Government of India, arrived in Rourkela on Friday on a two-day visit to SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). SAIL Chairman Amarendu Prakash and Dr Sanjay Roy, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Government of India, were also present with him. Director-in-charge, RSP, Atanu Bhowmik, also arrived along with the dignitaries. All were warmly welcomed at Rourkela Airport. Guard of Honour was presented to Mr Poundrick on behalf of CISF unit of RSP. Soon after his arrival in the city, Mr Poundrick chaired a high-level meeting held at Manthan Conference Hall of RSP. SAIL Chairman, Joint Secretary (Steel), Director-in-charge, all managing directors, Chief General Manager, Head of Department and senior officials of the plant were present in the meeting. He reviewed the performance of the steel mill on various fronts. During the meeting, a comprehensive presentation on the plant overview was given. After this, a dialogue session was organised. They will visit various departments of the plant before leaving in the afternoon of 31 August.
