Sandeep Ghosh arrested in rape-murder case, Tala police station in-charge also arrested

Kolkata: As part of the investigation into the rape and murder case of a lady doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken major action and arrested the in-charge (OC) of Talha police station, Abhijeet Mandal and former principal of the medical college, Dr Sandeep, has also been arrested. Both have been detained for destroying evidence related to the case. There are many more complaints against him. Complaints were being received against the in-charge of Tala police station for late filing of the FIR. He was summoned for questioning at the CBI office at CGO Complex on Saturday where he was arrested after irregularities were found in his statements. After his arrest, his physical examination was conducted at BR Singh Hospital in Sealdah. Here, Dr Sandeep Ghosh, former director of RG Kar Hospital, has also been arrested in the murder case of a young lady doctor following financial irregularities. Earlier, the Tala station in-charge was called to the CGO compound five or six times. He was questioned by the CBI investigators. Recently, Abhijeet Mandal was admitted to the hospital. Even then the CBI had summoned him. A notice was sent. He was also summoned on Saturday afternoon. Discrepancies were found in the notice. He was arrested soon after. Junior doctors expressed their joy. At the same time, junior doctors expressed their joy over the arrest of Dr Sandeep Ghosh and the Tala station in-charge in the rape and murder case. He welcomed this move by blowing conch shells at the protest site.
