After a nervous start, Pakistan managed to post a respectable score at the end of the rain-soaked opening day of the first Test against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. During his crucial knock on Wednesday, Saud Shakeel completed 1000 runs in Test cricket. He equalled Saeed Ahmed’s record and became the fastest Pakistani to reach 1000 Test runs, achieving the feat in just 20 innings.

It is noteworthy that Ahmed achieved this milestone in 1959, during the Karachi Test match against Australia.

After Saud and Saeed, Sadiq Mohammad is on the list, who scored 1000 Test runs for Pakistan in 22 innings, while Javed Miandad did so in 23. Taufeeq Omar, Abdullah Shafique and Abid Ali came in 24 innings.

After scoring his seventh fifty in a Test, Saud will look to score big on Day 2 and help Pakistan post a big total in the first innings of the first Test against Bangladesh.
