The SEC has filed a request for an extension in its ongoing appeal case against Ripple Labs, seeking to advance the deadline for its main brief to January 15, 2025.

This request was revealed by defense attorney James Filan in a mail at X. Legal experts, including pro-XRP lawyer Fred Rispoli, have fixed that the case could last until 2026.

The timing of this request coincides with Ripple’s long-awaited Form C filing, which is expected to shed light on which parts of Judge Analisa Torres’ ruling Ripple intends to appeal.

Eleanor Terrett, FOX Business Reporter indicated that Form C was expected to be filed today but has not materialized so far.

The SEC’s ongoing legal maneuvers have been closely followed by the crypto community, with many speculating about the reasons for these delays.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has publicly criticized the SEC for what he sees as overreach, further intensifying public discourse around the case.

The SEC’s request to extend the deadline is seen by some as a legal ploy, while others see it as a sign of potential complications within the Commission’s appeals process.
