September 5, Teachers’ Day: This day commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice President and second President of India. In 1962, it was decided that his birthday would be celebrated as Teachers’ Day.
Birth Anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan: He was born on 5 September 1888 in Madras Presidency. He served as a professor at prestigious institutions like Calcutta University and Oxford University.
September 5, 1774: The First Continental Congress met in Philadelphia. The Congress sought to address colonial grievances against British rule. The Congress first met in Philadelphia on September 5, 1774, with delegates from each of the 13 colonies except Georgia.
