Pakistan cricket hit a new low in Test cricket as they suffered a 10-wicket defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. Pakistan had never lost a Test match against Bangladesh in history. Bangladesh registered a thumping victory over Pakistan and handed them a 10-wicket defeat. Many former Pakistan players have criticised the team for their poor performance.

Shahid Afridi He also broke his silence and shared a post on X. “A 10-wicket defeat raises serious questions about the decision to set up this kind of pitch, select four fast bowlers and leave out a specialist bowler. To me, this clearly shows a lack of awareness about the local conditions. That said, you can’t take credit away from Bangladesh for the kind of cricket they played during the Test,” he wrote on X.

Pakistan made a surprising decision and decided to play with four fast bowlers. They did not include any bowler in the playing eleven. Pakistan had a tough time facing the Bangladeshi bowlers and the home team’s decision to play without a bowler was one of the reasons for their defeat.

Interestingly, Pakistan had declared their first innings after being asked to bat first. The team management thought the total of 448 was sufficient and declared the innings with four wickets remaining. Mohammad Rizwan was batting on 171 and failed to score a double century.

Thanks to Mushfiqur Rahim’s century, Bangladesh responded with a total of 565 runs, which enabled them to gain a lead of 117. Pakistan’s batsmen struggled in the second innings and only managed to score 146 in 55.5 overs.

Babar Azam, who departed for a duck in the first innings, scored 22 in the second innings. Mehidy Hasan picked up 4 wickets in the second innings while Shakib al Hasan dismissed three batsmen. Bangladesh did not lose any wicket and completed the chase of 30 with ease. They have a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
