Six Indian women cricketers, including vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, will be part of the upcoming Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), which begins on October 27, after being picked by different teams.

While Mandana was previously signed by Adelaide Strikers, Dayalan Hemalatha will be playing league football for the first time after the top-order batsman was selected by Perth Scorchers where she will add firepower to their line-up.

Wicket-keeper batsman Yastika Bhatia will also make her WBBL debut after being picked up by the Melbourne Stars, where she will join national teammate Deepti Sharma.

Indian all-rounder Shikha Pandey has been signed by Brisbane Heat, where she is expected to inject much-needed pace into the team and add a lot as a powerful lower-middle order batsman.

Pandey will be available for the entire season as he is not part of India’s squad for the T20 World Cup. He joins Jemimah Rodrigues in the Brisbane Heat squad.

The WBBL will kick off on October 27 in Adelaide with a match between the Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat.
