Prime Minister Modi will travel to Jharkhand today and will launch six Vande Bharat trains in Tatanagar Junction Railway station at around 10 a.m., according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The six new routes to be covered by these trains are Tatanagar-Patna, Brahmapur-Tatanagar, Rourkela-Howrah, Deoghar-Varanasi, Bhagalpur-Howrah and Gaya-Howrah.

The ministry said the train is capable of reaching speeds of up to 160 kilometres per hour, offering an unparalleled travel experience for millions of passengers.

“As on date (September 14, 2024), with a fleet of 54 trains (108 services), Vande Bharat has completed a total of around 36,000 journeys and transported over 3.17 million passengers,” the Railway Ministry said.

He added that Vande Bharat is the first semi-high speed train designed and manufactured in India, which has demonstrated the country’s engineering prowess.

According to the release, the original Vande Bharat train has now been proliferated into Vande Bharat 2.0, with even more advanced features like fast acceleration, Kavach, anti-virus system and WiFi, among others.

“With Vande Bharat Express train services, Indian Railways is on its way to revolutionising travel in India. These trains not only reflect the success of the ‘Make in India’ initiative but also set new global standards of speed, safety and service,” the ministry said.

“As India’s railway network continues to expand, passengers can look forward to a future of seamless, comfortable and efficient travel that meets the nation’s diverse needs,” he added.
