Skoda Auto Mexico revealed the name of its next subcompact SUV, The kylaqin the recent past. This SUV will be based on the proven MQB-A0-IN platform that also underpins several other Skoda and VW cars in India. The Kylaq is all set to compete in one of the most competitive segments of the Indian market, taking on the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV300 and Maruti Brezza.

New spy photos have revealed a key feature of the Kylaq, confirming the inclusion of a single-panel power sunroof. The SUV will also be available in a red paint scheme and will feature a distinctive taillight design with a clear lens setup. Additional features include roof rails, a shark fin antenna, gently slanted C-pillars, and a tailgate-mounted license plate holder.

Previous teasers have shown off the Kylaq’s split headlamp design, new LED daytime running lights, and inverted L-shaped LED taillights. The model is expected to be powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI petrol engine, good for 114 PS and 178 Nm of torque. This engine will be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a torque converter automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels.

Based on the MQB-A0-IN platform shared with the Skoda Slavia and Kushaq, the Kylaq is expected to offer a blend of style, comfort and performance, positioning it as a strong contender in a segment already occupied by titans like the Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
