The prototype of the Vande Bharat sleeper train was unveiled at the Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) facility in Bengaluru on Sunday. The inauguration is scheduled for December. The Vande Bharat sleeper train will include 16 coaches adapted for night travel covering 800 to 1,200 kilometres. The enhanced features will offer better oxygen levels and increased protection against the virus. The Vande Bharat Sleeper variant will have a better average speed compared to the Rajdhani Express. The sleeper train is likely to run at an average speed of 160 kmph, while the trial speed will be 180 kmph.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper train has GFRP panels, a sensor-based interior, automatic exterior passenger doors, an ergonomically designed odour-free lavatory system, connecting doors and a spacious luggage room.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper will have a number of coaches that includes 4 2-tier AC coaches with 188 berths, 11 3-tier AC coaches with 611 berths and 1 first class AC coach with 24 berths.
Vande Bharat sleeper train ticket price
Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnav While unveiling the prototype of the much-awaited Vande Bharat sleeper coach at the BEML facility in Bengaluru, he said that the ticket pricing for the Vande Bharat sleeper coach will be similar to that of Rajdhani. “The Vande Bharat sleeper coach is for all middle-class families. The fare structure will be based on the Rajdhani model and will be reasonable, keeping in mind the middle-class families,” he said.
Rajdhani Express is a fully air-conditioned premium train service connecting New Delhi to state capitals across India.
