Sourav Ganguly files complaint against Bengali YouTuber for cyber harassment: Check details

Surav GangulyThe former India captain has filed a complaint against a Bengali YouTuber for disparaging him and using abusive language in one of his social media videos. The individual in question, Mrinmoy Das aka Cinebap, is accused of using Ganguly’s images, videos and comments related to the recent rape and murder case of a doctor in Kolkata.

The legendary cricketer’s secretary filed the complaint and included a link to the video in question.

“I am writing to draw your attention to a case of cyber harassment and defamation involving a person named Mrinmoy Das. This individual has posted a video on a social media platform attacking Sourav Ganguly, using abusive language and making derogatory remarks which are detrimental to his reputation,” the secretary, Taniya Bhattacharya, wrote.

“The context of the video not only constitutes an attack on Ganguly but also violates the dignity and respect that every individual is entitled to. We seek your intervention in this matter and kindly request that appropriate legal action be taken against Das for defaming and harassing Ganguly in this manner. We trust that the cyber department will take necessary and prompt action to address this matter and ensure that justice is done,” he added.

“We have received an email and we are looking into it,” a police officer said of the matter.

This event highlights the growing concern about online bullying and the need to address cyberbullying in today’s digital world.

Ganguly faced criticism for his comments on the tragic incident that took place on August 8 at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. Last month, he also organised a candlelight vigil in the city with his wife Dona and daughter Sana to seek justice for the victim.

Meanwhile, the 52-year-old, who is currently serving as the Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals, has shown his desire to take up the head coach’s role, though there are some doubts within the team management. With the IPL 2025 auction on the horizon, DC is keen to assemble a strong squad for the upcoming season.
