South Goa’s Colva beach to be renovated to decongest North Goa beaches: Ministry of Tourism

Goa’s Colva beach will be renovated under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0. The initiative aims to enhance the visitor experience while preserving the local environment and supporting residents’ livelihoods.

State Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte recently announced that the first phase of the project will begin after January 5, 2025. He said the project will focus on resolving critical infrastructure issues with minimal disruption to daily operations of vendors. and local companies.

The move will also decongest the beaches of North Goa as many locals have complained of over-tourism in the northern belt of Candolim, Calungute, Baga and Anjuna, sources in the Goa Tourism Ministry told CNBC-TV18 Travel Desk.
