Jamshedpur is undergoing a transformation to become a critical maintenance hub for Vande Bharat trains. To this end, the railway station is being equipped with advanced infrastructure, including traction cables along the track and specialised equipment worth Rs 22 crore. These improvements are crucial for efficient maintenance and operation of high-speed trains.

Following successful completion of trials, Vande Bharat Express is expected to commence regular services between Jharkhand and Bihar on 15 August 2024. Local staff are undergoing rigorous training to ensure highest standards of maintenance and safety for Vande Bharat coaches.

Patna will also have a bullet train

Currently, the journey between Delhi and Patna can take anywhere from 17 hours by train to almost nine hours by the faster Vande Bharat Express. But now, a high-speed bullet train, designed to travel at 350 km/h, promises to cut the journey time by as much as two-thirds.

According to reports, after planning the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train initiative, the government is now planning a bullet train on the Delhi-Patna route, which is spread over 1,050 km. The route is expected to include stations at Buxar, Patna itself and Gaya. Also, the route for the construction of the elevated track in Bihar for the bullet train has been decided, and reports say that land acquisition for the same will begin soon as a team from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited will reach Patna in August.
