Sterlite Technologies enters AI data center market with cutting-edge optical solutions at India Mobile Congress 2024

Sterlite Technologies (STL) has announced its entry into the AI-powered data center market with a showcase of its integrated offerings at the India Mobile Congress 2024. The portfolio, which includes optical cables, connectivity and interconnection solutions, was launched by Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Honorable Minister of Telecommunication of India. This development marks a significant leap in India’s technological capabilities, aligning with the country’s Make-in-India initiative.

Highlighting the vital relationship between artificial intelligencedata centers and fiber connectivity, Scindia said, “STL’s AI-based data center portfolio is a major innovation for the AI ecosystem and will bolster India’s growing data center capacity.”

With the use of AI rapidly expanding—ChatGPT With over 200 million users alone generating 1.6 billion AI queries monthly, demand for high-performance data centers has increased. By 2025, the number of AI users is expected to exceed one billion, driving the need for advanced infrastructure, including fiber optic systems to support high-density data centers.

STL has developed a complete AI Data Center Portfolio (AI-DC) to meet the unique demands of GPU-intensive data centers, which require up to 36 times more fiber than traditional CPU-based centers.

This surge in demand is being driven by the rapid expansion of its data center ecosystem in India, with GPU-based server capacity expected to reach 5.2 lakh GPUs by 2026.

STL’s AI-DC portfolio is based on its Intelligently Bonded Ribbon (IBR) cable technology, which enables high fiber density, essential to support the complex requirements of AI workloads.

“We are deeply committed to creating solutions that meet the growing need for dense connectivity environments,” said Ankit Agarwal, president and CEO of STL’s optical business.

STL’s high-density product suite, which includes Celesta Ribbon Cables and advanced connectivity solutions, offers a cost-effective and scalable solution for data centers. The company’s focus on fiber densification and bandwidth efficiency positions it as a key player in the global data center landscape.

As India continues to emerge as a major hub for data centers, STL’s AI-DC portfolio is poised to play a crucial role in strengthening the country’s digital and AI infrastructure.
