While Mahtari Vandan Yojana is being run in Chhattisgarh, women are being provided with financial assistance every month through Ladli Brahmin Yojana in Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, the new BJP government in Odisha will also launch the Subhadra Scheme for women. Through this scheme, women will be provided with Rs 10,000 in two instalments every year. The first installment of this scheme will be released today. PM Modi will release the amount of this scheme on the special occasion of his birthday.
Latest Update on Subhadra Yojana Actually, the Odisha government of Mohan Majhi has initiated this scheme in the name of Subhadra, the younger sister of Lord Jagannath. Through this scheme, in five years up to 2028-29, more than one crore women in the state will be provided with financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per year. Official sources said that the government has budgeted Rs 55,825 crore for the scheme for five years from 2024-25 to 2028-29. An amount of Rs 10,000 crore has been set aside for this scheme for the current financial year (2024-25).
The money will go to the Aadhaar linked account.
The money will be deposited directly into the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-linked bank account. The government has made e-KYC mandatory for this scheme. Subhadra debit card will be issued to the beneficiaries. A total of 100 beneficiaries who make the maximum number of digital transactions in each Gram Panchayat area and urban local body will receive an additional incentive of Rs 500.
Who will get the benefit of Subhadra Yojana?
The benefit of Subhadra Yojana will be available only to those women who are financially weak. Women holding government jobs and those paying income tax will not be included in this scheme. At the same time, if a woman receives a benefit of Rs 15,000 or more every year from any other government scheme, she will not be included in this scheme.
BJP had promised
The BJP had promised before the assembly and parliament elections to bring Subhadra Yojana. The scheme ended 24 years of BJD rule in Odisha and led to the BJP winning 20 of the 21 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Women, especially the 70 lakh members of about 6 lakh women self-help groups (WSHGs) organised under Mission Shakti, were the single most important factor behind the BJD’s electoral success for 24 years. Mission Shakti was launched in 2001 to empower women by providing them with credit and market links, and over the years it has managed to build a vote bank of committed women for the BJD.
