Odisha News : Odisha Vigilance Department officials on Monday launched simultaneous raids in the disproportionate assets case of former Odisha Chief Engineer (Roads and Buildings (Civil)) Tara Prasad Mishra. During this period, so far, 10 high-value flats, seven plots in Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda, deposits worth over Rs 2.7 crore, about 1.5 kg of gold, over Rs 6 lakh cash, two luxury cars including a Mercedes Benz, one branded car including a Rolex watch have been found.
Large assets in the name of relatives
According to the press release issued by the Vigilance Department, during the house search so far, information has been received regarding many properties in the name of Mishra and his family members. This includes a flat in Arpan Apartment in Nayapalli area of Bhubaneswar, a flat in Cosmopolis, Bhubaneswar, a flat in Falcon Crest, a flat in Grand Awas, a flat in Assotech. Apart from this, Ashiana of Jharsuguda includes three apartments. Besides, information has also been received regarding seven plots in posh areas of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Jatni. Measurement and assessment/valuation of all the flats/plots is being carried out by the Vigilance Technical Wing.
Rs 2.7 crore in cash and 1.5 kg of gold were recovered.
According to information provided by the department, bank deposits worth over Rs 2.7 crore have been recovered by the vigilance officers. Gold weighing around 1.5 kg and cash worth over Rs 6 lakh have also been recovered. Besides, foreign currencies from the US, Thailand, Vietnam, UAE, Canada, Mexico, Malaysia and Singapore have also been recovered. Mishra spent Rs 80 lakh on medical education for his daughter (MBBS and MD). Branded wrist watches including a Rolex watch worth around Rs 13 lakh have been recovered along with other deposits and investments in stocks and mutual funds are being traced. Two luxury cars (Mercedes Benz and KIA Seltos) have also been recovered from them. The search is on and further reports are awaited.
