Thalapathy’s much-awaited film The Greatest Of All Time aka GOAT is all set to hit the big screen on September 5. The action film is already making waves with its remarkable pre-booking sales for the opening day. However, as per the latest developments, GOAT will not be releasing on national chains like PVR, INOX and Cinepolis in Hindi in the northern region of India. Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh shared the news on his social media account and also mentioned the reason behind the decision.

“National broadcasters have, for quite some time, adhered to a policy that requires ALL new #Hindi films to maintain a gap of 8 weeks between their theatrical release and their release on OTT platforms,” Taran explained about the real reason behind not releasing the film in Hindi in North India.

The film was reportedly made on a massive budget of around Rs 400 crore, making it one of the most expensive films produced in 2024. Apart from Thalapathy Vijay, the film also stars Prashanth, Prabhudeva, Mohan, Jayaram, Sneha, Laila, Ajmal Amir, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Parvati Nair, Vaibhav, Yogi Babu, Premgi Amaren, Yugendran Vasudevan and Akilan.

GOAT is written and directed by Venkat Prabhu and its music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. According to Sacnilk, the film has already sold nearly a million tickets for the first day in advance bookings.

Less than a day into its theatrical release, The GOAT has crossed Rs 50 crore in advance bookings worldwide, making it Vijay’s second consecutive film to get such low pre-sales after last year’s blockbuster Leo.
