Calcutta, Vikas Kumar Gupta: The bike on which the civic volunteer, the only accused arrested in the gruesome rape and murder incident of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College Hospital in West Bengal, reached the hospital was purchased in the name of the Kolkata Police Commissioner. The Kolkata Police has given its stand on this news on social media.
The bike was issued in the name of ASI Arup Dutt.
Regarding this allegation, the Kolkata Police has said that if any vehicle is purchased for the Kolkata Police, in the name of the head of the department, it is purchased in the name of the Kolkata Commissioner. This tradition has been maintained since the beginning. Due to this, like other vehicles, the said bike was also purchased in the name of the Kolkata Commissioner. Only this kind of confusion is spreading among the common people in this regard. The common people are requested not to pay heed to such misconceptions.
Kolkata Police launches departmental inquiry against ASI
Some other police sources say that the Kolkata Police-issued bike on which Sanjay had reached there was handed over to the Social Welfare Cell. That bike was handed over to the ASI working in that board. A departmental inquiry is now underway as to why the said ASI Arup Dutt handed over the said bike issued in the name of his department to civic volunteer Sanjay. The accused ASI is being questioned in this regard. Police said that if the allegations against him are proven true, strict action will be taken against him.
