Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Key Features

Indian Railways is gearing up to launch the Vande Bharat Sleeper train soon. Let us tell you that it has been started with an aim to make long distance travel convenient and comfortable. The first Vande Bharat sleeper train will roll off from Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) in Bengaluru on September 20 and its first service is likely to commence in December.

Talking about the salient features of the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train, this train is considered to be much better than the Rajdhani Express and Tejas Express trains and faster than the Shatabdi Express trains. The Vande Bharat sleeper train will be equipped with facilities like comfortable berths, clean and modern toilets, high-speed Wi-Fi, reading lights and high-speed mobile charging points.

Composition and capacity of the first Vande Bharat sleeper train

The structure and capacity of Vande Bharat’s first sleeper train is made of high-grade austenitic stainless steel, with crash-resistant elements in shock absorbers and couplers.

Let us tell you that there will be a total of 16 coaches in the Vande Bharat Sleeper train which will include 11 AC 3-tier coaches, 4 AC 2-tier coaches and one AC first class coach while two coaches will be SLR. The first Vande Bharat Sleeper train is designed to carry a total of 823 passengers which will include 611 berths in AC 3 tier, 188 berths in AC 2 tier and 24 berths in AC 1 tier.

What speed will the first Vande Bharat sleeper train run at?

The speed of the first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will be 160 km per hour which will be a semi-high speed train with better facilities than Rajdhani Express and in the initial trials this train will run at a speed of 180 km per hour. An armoured system will be used in Vande Bharat Sleeper Train which makes it even more special in terms of safety. Moreover, CCTV cameras and fire detection system have also been installed for the safety of the passengers.

Route of the first Vande Bharat sleeper train

The route of the first Vande Bharat sleeper train is yet to be decided, but it is believed that it may be launched from Delhi-Mumbai or Delhi-Kolkata route in December 2024 or January 2025.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said that work on the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train set is in full swing and the first train will be on track within two months. All the technical work is in the final stage.
