When Aparshakti Khurana When he auditioned for Vikramaditya Motwane’s Jubilee (2022), he didn’t know that it had landed him another project in Berlin. After all, Atul Sabharwal, who has directed ZEE5’s upcoming bureaucratic thriller, was also the scriptwriter for Jubilee and was aware of the actor’s audition. “Atul had seen my audition for Jubilee. So, the first time we met for the readings for Jubilee, we started the talks for Berlin,” recalls Khurana.

For the actor, Berlin, also starring Rahul Bose, Ishwak Singh and Anupriya Goenka, was an easy yes as the style and world-building of the thriller was novel. “The moment Atul Sir narrated SedanI asked him for the script and finished reading it the same day. It was a world I had never heard of or seen before.”

Khurana’s career took a turn two years ago when he headlined Jubilee, playing an aspiring actor in his late 40s. While the show helped him shed the comedian image, he says his own approach to projects has not been affected by his newfound recognition. “If I go by the kind of scripts that come my way, I can say that there has been an increase in respect. There are better people and production houses that I am collaborating with. That said, I never operated from scratch.” [the idea] “I have something to prove.
