The Federation of Central Universities Teachers Associations (FEDCUTA) on Wednesday organised a workshop at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) here and reiterated its demand for reversing the National Education Policy (PNE) 2020.

The workshop highlighted the “negative impact” of PNE 2020 In India education system, including the commercialization of education, the erosion of academic standards and the decrease inequitable access to higher education, according to an official statement.

The participants, including professors from central and state universities in Delhi and other states, opposed the implementation of NEP, Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) and assignment of electoral duties to university professors, he said.

Speaking to PTI, FEDCUTA President Moushumi Basu said, “All the organisations that participated in the workshop resolved to intensify their struggle for the scrapping of NEP and restoration of the old pension scheme, among other issues.”

Surajit Mazumdar, professor of economics at JNU, said: “UPS does not offer teachers and other employees the assurance of a secure life after retirement, which is an essential condition that must be fulfilled if a lifelong commitment to dedicated service in public employment is to be expected.”
