‘They are a real threat’: Donald Trump blames Biden and Harris’ ‘rhetoric’ for assassination attempts

Washington: Former president Donald Trump has again blamed Democrats for the second assassination attempt against him, accusing the president Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for inciting violence with their rhetoric. Speaking to Fox News Digital on Monday, Trump claimed that their incendiary language was the reason behind the attack, which occurred at Trump International in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday.

The Secret Service spotted the suspected gunman, Ryan Wesley Routh, with an AK-47-style rifle pointed through a fence at the golf course. He fled the scene but was later arrested. Authorities are treating the incident as attempted murder.

The Harris and Biden rhetoric that got me shot

This is the second assassination attempt on Trump since July. “He believed Biden and Harris’ rhetoric and acted on it,” Trump told Fox News. “Their rhetoric is getting me shot, while I’m the one trying to save the country, and they’re destroying it, both from within and without.”

Trump cited comments by Biden and Harris, who called him a “threat to democracy” and presented themselves as leaders of “unity” — a claim Trump vehemently rejected. He referred to them as “the real threat” and accused them of undermining the country.

The alleged shooter, Routh, who has a long history of clashes with law enforcement, has posted anti-Trump messages on social media and expressed support for Democratic candidates. Trump said: “Dangerous fools, like the shooter, listen to his rhetoric and act on it.”

Democrats, for their part, have frequently blamed Trump for inciting violence, particularly after the January 6 riots at the Capitol. Over the weekend, Biden said a president should “reject hate” and not incite violence.

Trump also criticized Biden and Harris for policies he believes are “destroying” the country, particularly on immigration. He also criticized the media, which he called biased and accused of protecting Democrats during and in their coverage of the debates.

“The media is made up of fools who will spew garbage at the Democrats and protect them at all costs,” Trump said, also criticizing ABC News debate moderator David Muir for being “biased” during his recent debate with Harris.
