This renewed approach is already yielding results. In the first seven months of 2024, more than 437,000 foreign tourists visited Mongolia, a significant 25% increase compared to the same period last year. The number of tourists from Europe, the United States and Japan is increasing, while visitors from South Korea have almost doubled, likely due to the convenient flight time of less than four hours.
While the impressive tourist influx paints a positive picture, the Mongolian government aims to attract one million visitors a year between 2023 and 2025. Once the sprawling empire of Genghis Khan, this land has immense potential to captivate travelers.
