‘Those underestimating us.’: AAP as alliance with Cong in Haryana hits roadblock

Amid uncertainty over an alliance with the Congress for the Haryana assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday warned that those who “underestimate” the party would “regret it”.

National Secretary of the AAP (organization) Sandeep Pathak He said during a press conference that the party was ready to contest all 90 seats in the Haryana elections with full strength.

“We are fully prepared and waiting for the party’s order. As soon as we get the order, we will announce everything. We are ready to fight the elections with all our might in all the seats and those who underestimate us will regret it in future,” Pathak said.

The alliance negotiations between AAP and CongressParty members have reached a deadlock over seat sharing. The AAP has demanded 10 seats, while the Congress is offering between five and seven, insiders have said.

Haryana will go to polls on October 5. The last date for filing nominations is September 12.

Earlier in the day, AAP’s chief national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said talks were ongoing and expressed hope that there would be “some conclusion”.

“Talks are going on, so it is too early to comment,” he said when asked about the number of seats AAP would contest if it strikes an alliance with the Congress.

The AAP has been on a continuous campaign in Haryana. Sunita Kejriwal, wife of the party chief Arvind KejriwaPublic meetings will be held in the state on Saturday. “We are ready to contest all 90 seats,” Kakkar said.

AAP sources said on Friday that talks on an alliance were on the verge of “collapse”.

They also said the party planned to contest 50 seats and could announce its first list of candidates on Sunday.
