Tokyo Electron partners with Tata Electronics to grow semiconductor ecosystem in India

Japanese electronics and semiconductor company Tokyo Electron has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with India’s Tata Electronics.

The two companies will collaborate to accelerate semiconductor equipment infrastructure for Tata Electronics’ first India fab being built in Dholera, Gujarat, and for its assembly and testing facility in Jagiroad, Assam.

Focus on workforce training

Through this partnership, TEL and Tata Electronics will also focus on training Tata Electronics workforce in the use of TEL equipment and supporting continuous improvement and R&D initiatives.

The collaboration will leverage the strengths of both companies to establish a robust semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in India.

Construction of India’s first factory in Gujarat

Tata Electronics earlier announced that it is building India’s first factory in Dholera, Gujarat, with a total investment of Rs 91,000 crore ($11 billion).

The company will also invest Rs 27 billion ($3 billion) in a new facility in Jagiroad, Assam, for assembling and testing semiconductor chips.

Together, these facilities will produce semiconductor chips for applications in automotive, mobile devices, artificial intelligence (AI) and other key segments to serve customers around the world.
