1. CV Raman

CV Raman’s full name is Chandrashekhar Venkata Raman and he was born on 7 November 1888 in Tiruchirappalli. CV Raman is an Indian scientist who is famous because he won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930 for showing that when light passes through a transparent material, its wavelength changes. This was something that people didn’t know at the time, especially scientists, and CV Raman’s discovery changed the way scientists studied how light and matter interact.

2. Srinivas Ramanujan

Srinivasa Ramanujan was a famous scientist from India who did not have any degree but still he solved the most complex equations which no one could solve at that time. Therefore, due to the most difficult and complex equations that he solved, he is known as one of the greatest scientists in history. Ramanujan has made significant contributions in his scientific field in mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions. Srinivasa Ramanujan was born on 22 December 1887 in Erode, Tamil Nadu.

3. Homi J. bhabha

Homi J. Bhabha’s full name is Homi Jahangir Bhabha and he was born on 30 October 1909 in Bombay. Homi J. Bhabha is known as the father of India’s nuclear programme. In 1945, he founded the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) and in 1948 paved the way for the creation of the Atomic Energy Commission of India. Today, the credit for making India a nuclear weapons-rich country goes to him. After going to Cambridge, Homi Jahangir Bhabha became famous throughout the world for his work on cosmic radiation.

4. Vikram Sarabhai

Vikram Sarabhai, known as the father of Indian space programme, was born on 12 August 1919 in Ahmedabad. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was established in 1969 under the leadership of Vikram Sarabhai. The launch of the first Indian satellite, Aryabhata, was possible only because of Sarabhai’s idea. Vikram Sarabhai is one of the famous scientists of India who founded the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) in India and played a major role in establishing organisations like Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A).

5. Dr. APJ Abdul-Kalam

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu and his full name is Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. APJ Abdul Kalam became India’s missile man and the 11th President of India. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was one of the famous Indian scientists who made India a world leader in space and military technology through his significant work on ballistic missiles and launch vehicle technology at DRDO and ISRO.
