This Toyota SUV will put an end to the Thar, Jimny and Gurkha craze

Talking about off-road SUVs sold in India, three names come to mind first, Mahindra Thar, Maruti Jimny and Force’s Gurkha, these three SUVs are the most trending ones and after a few days, Mahindra Thar Roxx will also be available at the launch. Toyota Land Hopper is an SUV that is loved by everyone due to its off-road capabilities and excellent looks, with which the name of the automotive giant Toyota is associated and which is going to be launched in the Indian market very soon.

The automaker recently applied for a trademark for the name “Land Hopper” in its home market, Japan. Now, the Land Hopper name could reportedly be used on Toyota’s upcoming compact cruiser model. Reports also say that the smaller Land Cruiser model could be unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show scheduled for late October.

The Land Hopper uses a shortened version of the GA-F platform, which underpins models such as the 300-series Land Cruiser, Sequoia, Tacoma, Tundra, and the new Lexus GX. The SUV is expected to measure 4,351 mm in length, 1,854 mm in width, and 1,880 mm in height. Additionally, the length also includes a tire carrier that hangs on the SUV’s rear trunk lid.

While details of the upcoming Toyota Land Hopper (compact cruiser) are unclear, the automaker has reportedly said that the model will not be electric-only, but will be offered with both gasoline and diesel engine options; perhaps even a hybrid powertrain. While Toyota has yet to confirm any specifications, the Land Hopper may have engine options ranging from a 1.5-liter turbo-gasoline hybrid in the Corolla Cross to a 2.8-liter diesel in the Hilux pickup truck. As for electric equipment, the report says that the electric drivetrain being developed for the Tacoma in the US could be modified and used in the Land Hopper when it’s finished.
