Training activities should be aligned with the requirements of the industry and the labour market, Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary said on Wednesday.
Inaugurating the Airbus-Tata STRIVE Skill Development Centre here, the Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship also asked the two companies to further deepen their collaborations with higher education institutions.
“Training needs to be fully aligned with the industry, with the requirements of the labour market, with the job market. It is necessary to emphasise what is already present in India,” the minister said.
Later, speaking to reporters, he mentioned the increasing migration from rural to urban areas and said it might not be possible for everyone to get jobs.
In this context, the Minister advocated for promoting the development of entrepreneurial skills among young people.
The Delhi and Bengaluru centres will offer courses in the field of Information Technology (IT) such as cyber security, ethical hacking, web designing, cloud computing along with youth development modules (soft skills curriculum) that will empower the youth and enrich their skills and employability scope in IT and allied services.
The courses will be designed by Tata STRIVE with the aim of preparing a future-ready workforce for roles that are in national and global demand.
Airbus-Tata’s STRIVE centres in Delhi and Bengaluru aim to train over 900 youth from economically disadvantaged sections of society over a three-year period, the European aircraft manufacturer said in a statement.
“As part of our efforts to develop the aerospace ecosystem in India, Airbus is deeply committed to nurturing talent and equipping it with the right skills,” said Rmi Maillard, President and CEO of Airbus India and South Asia.
He further said that Airbus is also working with leading Indian universities and engineering colleges to build a steady supply of high-quality professionals to boost India’s economy.
Airbus India has been partnering with Tata STRIVE since 2022.
The two entities initiated a pilot youth training project that successfully trained 199 young people, 60 percent of whom are currently employed.
Building on the success of the pilot project, Airbus and Tata STRIVE have expanded their collaboration further to address the pressing need to empower India’s youth for employment, entrepreneurship and community enterprise, the statement said.
Tata STRIVE is the skill development initiative of Tata Community Initiatives Trust, a charitable trust established in 2014.
