NH-29 plays a crucial role in Nagaland’s economy and connectivity. It is an important trade route and connects the state with Assam and other parts of the country. The disruption of this highway has affected tourism, trade and essential supplies to the region.

The state government is working to expedite the clearing of landslides and restore normal traffic flow on NH-29. But the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a warning for possible flooding and flash floods in several districts due to ongoing heavy rains. Areas such as Dimapur, Nuiland, Chumukedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit and Tuli have been identified as high-risk zones.

Authorities are advising travellers to be cautious and be prepared for possible flooding. Incessant rains have also increased the risk of landslides in vulnerable areas. NSDMA, together with local authorities, is closely monitoring the situation and urging residents to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel in the affected regions.
