In a post on his social media site, Truth Social, Trump drew attention to a group of images that were created using artificial intelligenceOne featured Swift dressed as Uncle Sam and the headline read: “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump.” The others featured a crowd of young women wearing matching T-shirts that read “Swifties for Trump.”
At least one of the images, which was shared by a Trump-aligned social media influencer, was labeled “satire.”
“I accept,” Trump wrote in a post, apparently implying that he had received Swift’s endorsement.
A representative for Swift, who has not endorsed anyone this election cycle after backing Joe Biden in 2020, did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.
The Democrats’ mockery was not long in coming.

Rep. Eric Swalwell of California, appearing on CNN on Monday, said the move would backfire on Trump. “This genius, over the weekend, decided to poke Taylor Swift’s fans in the eyes and suggest that she supports him,” Swalwell said. “They’re going to have a blast ruining everything for Donald Trump over the next 78 days.”
AJ Delgado, a former Trump campaign communications adviser in 2016 who sued him for wrongful termination, urged a Swift publicist to clear up the misinformation.
“Are you going to let this go uncorrected?” he wrote on social media platform X.
Trump’s tactics marked another turn in his long-standing obsession with Swift, who earlier this year was the focus of a right-wing crisis over her political preferences. The fixation with the Make America Great Again movement emerged around the Super Bowl, when Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, the star tight end for the Kansas Chiefs, won back-to-back titles.
Conspiracy theories proliferated that Swift was a secret Pentagon agent and was growing her fan base in preparation for her support for Biden’s re-election.
At the time, Trump reportedly said he was more popular than Swift and that it would be disloyal for her to support Biden’s reelection, given that Trump had signed legislation making it easier for artists to collect royalties when their songs were streamed.
Trump then privately complained to a group of House Republicans during a visit to Capitol Hill in June that Swift did not endorse him in 2020.
That year, Swift did not hold back her criticism of Trump amid widespread protests after Minneapolis police killed George Floyd.
“After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism his entire presidency, he has the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence?” he wrote on Twitter, now X. “When the looting starts, the shooting starts? We will vote them out in November.”
