Two criminals lodged in Vardhaman jail were robbing banks in Bakaria and sending bodyguards.

Correspondent, Patna: Santosh alias Bakaria gang has looted more than Rs 1 crore from banks in Dulhinbazar, Bihta, Dhanrua of Patna district and Barbigha of Shekhpura district. Along with Santosh, the police also arrested his gang members Pintu and Sumit Kumar. What is special is that Bakaria gang leaders Nirantak and Bittu are lodged in Vardhaman jail in West Bengal. On instructions from both of them, Santosh also robbed banks in Patna, Shekhpura and Dumka. Dumka police have also come to Patna for questioning. Apart from planning the bank robbery, Nirantak and Bittu also provided bodyguards to Santosh. The bodyguard used to guide Santosh and also protected him. He has been identified as a resident of Vaishali. But the police have kept his name under wraps for now. That bodyguard was everywhere in the bank robberies that took place in Patna and Shekhpura districts. Santosh is so clever that on August 5, he looted Rs 20.48 lakh from the Punjab National Bank in Dulhinbazar and then looted Rs 15 lakh from the Bank of India located in Hansdiha, Dumka. One pistol, loot of Rs 47,750, a loaded country-made pistol, 15 live cartridges, a bicycle bought with the loot money, five mobile phones, two routers and two ATM cards were recovered from the arrested miscreants. Bakaria and Pintu are residents of Danapur while Sumit Kumar is a resident of Sitamarhi. Here, the police released the arrested Sagar Kumar and Santosh’s second wife Basmatiya after interrogation. City SP West Abhinav Dhiman said that Nirantak and Bittu, lodged in Vardhaman jail, will be remanded in police custody and interrogated. These people are booked under the NDPS Act. Five robbers are currently on the run. Santosh and his gang were involved in a bank robbery, the murder of property dealer Mantu Sharma and his father in Phulwarisharif, the murder of Neeraj Paswan in Digha, injuring Ravi Gop’s brother Raju Rai, and the murder of driver Vikas.

Pintu met Nirantak and Bittu in Vardhaman jail.

Pintu was arrested in an NDPS Act case and Vardhaman remained in jail for several days. During this time, Pintu met Nirantak and Bittu. When he got out on bail, he made Santosh talk to them and then the bank robbery game began.

He went to meet his wife and was arrested by the police.

Santosh alias Bakaria was released on bail in 2020. He used to flee to Nepal after robbing the bank. He had reached Patna two days ago on the call of his first wife Aarti Devi and was near a government school in Dhanrua. During this time he was arrested while planning a robbery. Another case of possession of arms and planning robbery has been registered against Santosh and his gang at Dhanrua police station.

Jangi used to make calls through an app to avoid the police.

Santosh used to talk to his gang members through the Jangi app and internet voice calls. For this, he always carried a router with him, so that the police could not catch him and record his conversations. Jangi is a secure messaging app. Since there is no server, no data is safe on it.

It is used to invest looted money in land.

Santosh and his gang members Pintu, Sumit and others used to invest the looted money in purchasing land. Dhanshyam Bharti and Shatrughan, who were caught earlier, were also working as property dealers. The police are taking information about their property. Besides, their bank accounts are also being traced. A case has also been registered against all of them under the new BNS section on organised gangs. This way, the police will seize their properties and money from their bank accounts.
