NASA’s Boeing Starliner “Calypso” will undock from the International Space Station (ISS) on September 6, the space agency announced.
According to NASA’s blog post, Starliner’s trip back to Earth is expected to take about six hours from undocking to landing at White Sands Spaceport in New Mexico.
Ground teams will remotely guide the spacecraft through the maneuvers necessary for a safe undocking, reentry and parachute-assisted landing in the southwestern United States.
NASA also said that Starliner It previously successfully completed an uncrewed entry and landing during two orbital flight tests.

The unmanned NASA’s Boeing Starliner Calypso is set to return to Earth on Friday, September 6. According to NASA’s blog, the spacecraft will make its return at approximately 3:30 p.m. IST (6:04 a.m. EDT).
The Boeing Starliner will land at approximately 9:30 a.m. IST (2:03 a.m. EDT) on Saturday, September 7.
He will descend with a parachute and inflated air bags to cushion the impact.

Sunita Williams’ return to Earth
Last week, NASA said that its two astronauts, Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams –which flew to the ISS on the Starliner in June will return to Earth on a SpaceX vehicle in February next year.
They will remain aboard the orbital complex as part of the Expedition 71/72 crew until February 2025, when they will return with the Crew-9 mission, NASA said.
The delay has been attributed to problems with Starliner’s propulsion system, which was deemed too risky for a manned return. The capsule had experienced a series of failures in the first 24 hours of its flight to the ISS.
