UP govt set to launch electric boats in Ayodhya, Varanasi to boost religious tourism

“As per the plan, one air-conditioned electric boat with a capacity of 50 seats and two electric boats with a capacity of 30 seats each will operate from Nayaghat in the saryu river in Ayodhya,” he said.

“In Varanasi, a 50-seater air-conditioned electric boat will soon be available for tourists at Ravidas Ghat in the Ganges River“, he added.

The state-of-the-art air-conditioned vessels will have a steel catamaran hull, while those without air conditioning will have a GRP hull of the catamaran, the government said.

The ghats will have facilities for docking and loading these vessels, which will be managed by the Uttar Pradesh State Corporation for Tourism Development.

The boats will initially operate on a 10-year lease, strictly adhering to the guidelines laid down by the Department of Tourism, the Inland Watercraft Act and international standards. The operation of the boats will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India.
