News of Islam: On Friday, Muslim organisations protested in Gondia, Maharashtra, demanding the arrest of Nashik spiritual guru Ramgiri Maharaj. There are demands for the arrest of Ramgiri Maharaj for his alleged objectionable remarks against Islam. The Muslim Jamaat Gondia also submitted a memorandum to police officials after the protest.
The protest took place in the Azad Library area, where Ramgiri Maharaj is accused of making objectionable statements at a religious programme in Sinnar, Nashik, on August 14.
The outrage against Ramgiri Maharaj is mounting and the Muslim community is holding demonstrations across the country demanding his arrest. FIRs have been registered against him in many states including Mumbai, Nashik and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The allegation is that he deliberately made statements that created tension between two communities. The controversy started after Ramgiri Maharaj made remarks against Islam and Prophet Muhammad during a religious event in Shah Panchale village of Sinnar taluka, the video of which went viral on social media. This statement against the atrocities committed against Hindus in Bangladesh created controversy.
