The morning session of the exam starts at 9:00 and runs until 12:00. The second session will take place between 14:30 and 17:30.

UPSC Mains 2024 exams are scheduled to be conducted on September 20, 21, 22, 28 and 29.
September 20th – Essay
September 21: General Studies Test I (morning session), General Studies Test II (afternoon session)
September 22 – General Studies Exam III (morning session), General Studies Exam IV (afternoon session)
September 28: Paper A: Indian Language (Morning Session), Paper B: English (Afternoon Session)
September 29 – Test IV (optional test I) (morning session), Test V (optional test II) (afternoon session)
What should UPSC Main exam candidates bring to the exam centre?
Candidates must carry their electronic admission card, pen, pencil, photo ID and copies of their own photographs.
“Candidates are advised to reach the examination venue in good time so that their smooth entry into the venue can be ensured after observing the necessary protocol. The candidate should note that as per the Commission’s current policy, the entrance to the examination venue is closed 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination session,” UPSC said.
