“It’s been almost 15 years since vmware in India. We have a significant market in India. India is not just a market, but it is a place where we develop and support products,” Sylvain Cazard, president, Asia Pacific, Broadcom, told ET.
The executive stated, without revealing the exact workforce, that the American multinational has “thousands of people” in India who develop and support products locally.
“We cannot give a specific division of a country. The scale of our R&D (research and development) center in India is enormous. Our leaders are of Indian origin,” Cazard said.
Last year, Broadcom acquired Palo Alto-based VMware, an infrastructure software player, in a $69 billion deal. The two companies are working closely following the megamerger, taking steps to regain customer trust and offering loyalty programs to members.
In 2018, VMware had committed an investment of nearly $2 billion in India over a five-year period. “We are very positive about the performance of the infrastructure software business in India. We are already contributing a lot to the government and banks. UPI (Unified Payments Interface) “We are part of the platform in India,” Cazard said. Companies in the Public sector are one of the fastest growing verticals in India with the National Informatics Centre, which maintains IT infrastructure for all ministries and government agencies and bodies being one of the key clients of VMware.
The company also offers cloud infrastructure services to state governments and defense organizations, as well as many large banks in the country.
