Vande Bharat sleeper car prototype unveiled: Check out photos, features and speed of the new train for Aam Aadmi, better than Rajdhani

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled the prototype version of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Coach in BEMLThe bus will undergo extensive testing for the next 10 days before further track testing, and passenger operations are expected to begin in three months. “The bus will undergo rigorous testing and trials in 10 days before being rolled out on the track for further testing,” Vaishnaw told reporters. This new sleeper variant is expected to outperform the Rajdhani Express in terms of comfort, speed and safety for passengers. The train, manufactured by BEML, will be put into service in the next few months, Smriti Jain said in a TOI report.

Vande Bharat sleeper train Budget The Vande Bharat sleeper train is designed to achieve a maximum operating speed of 160 kmph and a test speed of 180 kmph. As a self-propelled train, it offers faster acceleration and deceleration, thereby improving its average speed compared to the Rajdhani Express. The 16-coach prototype of the train includes 11 3-tier air-conditioned coaches, 4 2-tier air-conditioned coaches and 1 first-class air-conditioned coach, providing a total of 823 berths.

Comfort and services for passengers Officials have stressed that the Features of Vande Bharat sleeper train First-class services, in line with European standards. The train interiors are equipped with GRP panels, automatic exterior passenger doors, sensor-enabled intercom doors and ergonomically designed, odour-free toilets. In addition, the train offers integrated reading lights with USB charging ports, special bunk beds and toilets for disabled passengers, modular pantries and modern passenger information systems.

Safety and comfort improvements The Vande Bharat sleeper train is built with advanced safety features, including crash-proof elements like specially designed shock absorbers and couplers. The materials used in the train meet the highest fire safety standards. Passengers can also expect superior comfort, with extra cushioning in the bunks and redesigned stairs for easier access to the upper bunks. The train promises a jolt-free ride with fully sealed corridors ensuring a dust-free environment and better air conditioning.

Future implementation and impact Indian Railways The aim is to roll out the Vande Bharat sleeper train on key routes, particularly those in the Golden Quadrilateral such as Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata. However, the exact routes are yet to be finalised. The train is expected to undergo extensive testing before going into operation, marking a new era in rail travel in India.
