Are you looking to save money and also start fresh by moving to a new city? If yes, we have good news for you. Some cities are paying citizens in case they move there. According to US News and World Report, many people are planning to cash in on rising inflation and persistent mortgage rates. Realtor.com® Senior Economist Ralph McLaughlin, speaking to the media, said, “The double advantage of a cash subsidy combined with lower home prices could be quite attractive for households that have few personal or professional costs associated with cutting physical ties from their current location.”

This policy is beneficial for everyone, especially remote workers, who return to small towns to save money. Below is a list of a couple of cities that offer cash back and other benefits to new residents:

W.V.

  • Incentive: Up to $12,000 or more

In addition to this, West Virginia also offers a free outdoor recreation package, co-working space, and more. In the first year, new residents will receive $10,000 paid in monthly installments, with the final $2,000 issued at the end of the resident’s second year living in West Virginia. To be eligible for the Ascend West Virginia program, applicants must work remotely. You must also provide proof of employment and income before being accepted into the program, have the ability to relocate within six months, be 18 years of age or older, and be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.

Rochester, New York

  • Incentive: Up to $9,000 in grants for homeowners

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the U.S. The applicant must also live at least 300 miles from Rochester and relocate within six months of being accepted. To date, 32 remote workers have relocated through the program.

Once approved, Tulsa Remote will need to verify that you have signed a qualifying rental agreement or purchased a qualifying home. Approved applicants will attend a new member orientation. Once you complete those steps, you will be eligible to receive the grant money.

Topeka, Kansas

  • Incentive: Up to $10,000 to be used for rent during the first year or up to $15,000 to be used after purchasing a home.
