Nandan Nilekani’s tribute to Ratan Tata:Billionaire Nandan Nilekani, co-founder of infosys on Monday paid tribute to late Tata Trusts chairman Ratan Tata, recalling their first meeting in 2001 during Tata’s visit to Infosys headquarters in Bengaluru.

Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away on October 9 at the age of 86.

Nilekani shared his memories about X, describing Tata’s humility, grace and generosity during their first meeting.

β€œI met Ratan Tata for the first time on his visit to @ infosys in 2001. I was impressed by his humility, grace and generosity. Many years later, he invited me to co-found @AvantiFinance, a financial inclusion platform for the next 100 million underserved and underserved households. It was a pleasure and privilege to partner with him! Goodbye Ratan,” wrote Nilekani.

In the video created by Infosys in honor of the late industrialist, images of Tata with Infosys co-founders Narayana Murthy and Mohandas Pai appear. The video included a photograph from the Infosys guest book, where Tata had described his experience in 2001 as “A wonderful and exhilarating experience. The view of the new India.”

In the tribute, infosys shared that Tata had planted a Tabebuia Rosea tree during his visit, which has since become a symbol of shared purpose and vision between the two corporations.

Narayana Murthy also paid his respects on October 10 and called Tata a “dear friend” and his role model. Tata passed away at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on the night of October 9, leaving behind a lasting legacy in Indian business and philanthropy.
