PAN card It is an important document for adults and is mainly used for taxes, banking related jobs, business purposes, etc. But in some cases, even those under 18 years of age require a PAN Card. For example, if a minor wants to start investing in SIPs or mutual funds, or needs an education subsidy/scholarship, he or she will need a PAN card.
In some cases, even if parents want to start investing on behalf of their children, they will need a PAN card for their children. So how do you request a minor PAN card? Follow these steps:
Step 1: Search “nsdl” on Google and open the first link that says “PAN Online Application”.
Step 2: Once the PAN application form opens, select “New Indian Citizen PAN (Form 49A)” from the “Type” menu and select “Individual” from the category drop-down menu.
Step 3: Fill all your basic information such as title, name, date of birth, email id.
Step 4: Give your consent and click the captcha bar to advance.
Step 5: Your token number will be generated, please write it down and save it safely.
Step 6: Click on “Continue to PAN Application Form”. From the options you see on the screen, select “Resend application documents physically” since it is a Minor PAN Card.
Step 7: Select whether you need a physical copy of the PAN card or not and write the last four digits of your Aadhaar number, along with the name.
Step 8: Your details will be pre-populated in the section below this, check if everything is correct and select Gender.
Step 9: Answer the question “Have you ever been known by any other name?” question with a Yes/No.
Step 10: Add your parents’ information. In case of a single mother, you can choose to print your name on the PAN Card by selecting the option provided here. Otherwise, simply add your parents’ details and select which parent’s name you want to be printed on the PAN card.
Step 11: Click “Next.” Then select “No Income” from the menu and add your residential address. Scroll down and then add your contact details.
Step 12: Select “Yes” in the Appraised Representative option. Since it is a PAN card for minors, this is mandatory. You can fill in your parent/guardian’s details.
Step 13: Click on “Indian Citizen” and type the name of your state, city and area.
Step 14: Click “Next” and choose the identification proofs you want to submit. In case of minors, Aadhaar is the best option for all three sections.
Step 15: Complete the declaration and then click “Submit.”
Step 16: Then you will have to pay the fee. Once done, an Aadhaar authentication option will appear, simply enter your Aadhaar number and authenticate it.
